Building a Permanent Home on the Web

06-21-2024

Wow, writing this blog post, my first personal blog post, is a little scary, I must admit. What's funny is, I know my way around blogging. I've been building, designing, and optimizing blogs, as well as managing the process of creating them, for some time now. It’s just that it has always been for an employer or a client. This time I’m building a digital space where I can share what I’ve learned as well as what I’m curious & passionate about.

Reflecting on my past experiences, I realized that while I've been adept at creating and optimizing blogs for others, this time I wanted to embark on a different journey—a journey of building something truly my own. This desire for a more permanent space led me to rethink how I approach building websites.

Ever since I made my first portfolio website, I would build a new portfolio website every couple of years. This was a great way for me to learn a new framework or library I was interested in, and explore new ideas and designs. Once the new site was live though, I would move on to the next project. However, this time around, I wanted to build something more permanent and maintainable. I wanted to create a space that I could build and scale for myself—a living portfolio and a blog. I considered using an existing platform to build on, but ultimately decided to build from scratch. I want a space that is free from paywalls, ads, and all the other unnecessary distractions that permeate online platforms.

So, here we are! This website is a labor of love, and I'm so excited to share it with you. Whether you're here to check out my latest projects, read my blog, or just explore, I hope you find something here that inspires you or helps you on your own creative journey.

Thanks for stopping by, and I look forward to sharing more with you soon!

tl;dr

I've been building blogs for others for a while, but now I'm creating my own space to share what I've learned and what I'm passionate about. Instead of my usual approach of creating new portfolios every few years, this time I'm building something permanent—a living portfolio and blog, free from paywalls and ads. Can't wait to share it with you!
